Welcome to the ELC Blog


English Language Center is an established and respected Intensive English Program, approved by Oklahoma State Regents of Higher Education and authorized under federal law to issue I-20s, required for F-1 student visas. The mission of ELC is to provide an excellent intensive English-as-a-second-language program for international students intending to enter US colleges, universities, or technical schools. Its main program is to enhance those academic skills which are needed to be successful in a English-speaking educational environment. ELC encourages cultural awareness through activities that acquaint the students with the community, holiday traditions, and the university campus. ELC's mission is also to design and implement programs for business executives, summer groups, and others who wish to improve their English language skills. We care about your success.

Idiom Comprehension

Directions: The sentences below contain idioms. Find the best inference from the sentences. When you are finished, select “Check My Answers”.


1. I hope Ann will forgive Robert. It’s not as if he forgot her birthday on purpose. He was just so busy with school and work it slipped his mind.
